Beginning therapy

When beginning therapy at Glacier Psychology Services, all clients will begin by scheduling an initial intake appointment with our intake specialist, Nija Jackson, LCSW. She will meet with the client individually or as a couple/family to get all relevant background information needed. The intake typically takes 60-90 minutes to complete. Once the intake has been completed, Nija will speak with the Glacier treatment team to determine the best-fit therapist as well as a recommended course of treatment. You will be assigned to a therapist or treatment team, and that therapist will reach out to schedule your regular appointments.

Cash, check and all major credit cards accepted for payment at the time of service. Cost of session may vary depending on education level and licensure status of therapist. Some of our therapists are able to accept insurance. Please call to discuss.

Glacier is an out of network provider for many insurance carriers which means that you pay for counseling and if you wish to seek reimbursement from your insurance carrier, it is up to you. At the end of each session, we can provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Another alternative is to pay for counseling with a health savings account (HSA), or flexible spending account (FSA). We suggest you always check with your insurance carrier. Contact us for further information.

When you schedule an appointment, please understand that time is being reserved for you. If needed, please cancel any scheduled appointment at least 48 hours in advance.

Please note, failure to give a 48-hour notice, will result in you being charged the full amount of your session.

The law protects the confidentiality of communications between a client and a therapist, and information cannot be disclosed without prior written permission from the client. However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. These include:

  • When there is suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. We are required to report this to the appropriate authorities.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person(s), we are required to notify the police and the intended victim.
  • If a client intends to harm him or herself, we will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure his/her safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, we will take further measures without his or her permission that are provided to us by law in order to ensure the client’s safety.
