Meet "Dr." Popsicle!

Our Therapy Dog Supporting Children, Teens, and Families

Popsicle is Glacier Psychology Services’ beloved therapy dog, here to bring comfort, connection, and a little extra joy to the therapy experience.

She is in the office 2–4 days per week and can join sessions upon request. If you’re interested in having Popsicle be part of your child’s or family’s session, simply let your clinician know.

How Popsicle Supports Therapy

For many children (and even teens and adults), therapy can feel unfamiliar or overwhelming at first.

Popsicle helps create a space that feels:

  • More relaxed

  • More engaging

  • More emotionally safe

As a therapy dog, Popsicle can help:

  • Reduce anxiety and stress during sessions

  • Help children feel more comfortable opening up

  • Build confidence through guided interaction

  • Support emotional regulation and calming

Her presence often helps clients feel more at ease, making it easier to connect, communicate, and engage in the therapeutic process.

Benefits of Therapy Dogs in Mental Health

Research shows that therapy dogs can help reduce anxiety, increase feelings of safety, and improve emotional regulation, especially for children and teens. Their presence can also enhance engagement in therapy, making it easier for clients to open up, build trust, and actively participate in the process.

Why Children Love Popsicle

Popsicle is sweet, playful, and (as many of our clients would say) extra snuggly.

She especially loves:

  • Playing at the park with clients

  • Practicing new commands

  • Being part of sessions and connecting with children

Children often naturally step into a leadership role with Popsicle, learning to give clear directions, read her cues, and build confidence in their own voice and presence.

A Unique Part of the Glacier Experience

At Glacier Psychology Services, we believe therapy should feel both effective and engaging, especially for children.

Popsicle is one of the many ways we create a warm, welcoming environment where clients feel safe to be themselves, build trust, and grow.
