Dr. Kayla Nelson

Dr. Nelson is the heart of Glacier Psychology Services. She recognizes the profound power of providing a safe and non-judgmental environment for healing. She is committed to providing culturally informed and evidenced-based, best therapy practices to every client that comes through the practice. Glacier Psychology Services is Dr. Nelson’s passion project, and you will feel her care and commitment in every interaction. 
 
Experience: 
Dr. Kayla Nelson is a licensed clinical psychologist committed to providing the best quality care to her clients. Dr. Nelson earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from California Lutheran University. 
 
Dr. Nelson and the team at Glacier Psychology Services, offer a range of therapeutic modalities, with a strong emphasis on personalized treatment plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. Committed to lifelong learning and professional development, Dr. Nelson continues to stay abreast of the latest advancements in trauma therapy to ensure the highest standard of care. She is passionate about fostering resilience and empowerment in her clients, guiding them toward a future of hope and recovery.
 
Client Focus: 
She specializes in working with adolescents and adults, helping individuals overcome the debilitating effects of trauma, anxiety, and depression. She also specifically enjoys working with minority populations and women, exploring the impact of systemic oppression. Working with diverse populations requires a sense of personal awareness and humility that Dr. Nelson brings to every interaction. 
 
Types of Therapy: 
Dr. Nelson is trained in cognitive behavioral therapies (i.e., dialectical behavior therapy), where she focuses on goal setting and behavior change. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an especially effective treatment modality for those with PTSD.  She also finds that having a relational approach to therapy is the most important for therapeutic progress. When working with Dr. Nelson you will feel like you have someone on your side, ready to support you and help you identify and progress toward your goals.

She has extensive experience working with individuals with trauma related disorders, anxiety  disorders, depression, ADHD, behavioral concerns and relationship conflict.

Individual therapy, Play therapy, Couples counseling, Family therapy. 
 
Dr. Nelson also helps run therapy groups at Glacier. 
 
Psychological and Academic Testing: 
Dr. Nelson is also able to provide psychological and academic testing.
